Our Story

 

It may sound very cliché to say but Essie & Ellie is a dream come true. I always knew I wanted to do something I loved, something that would mean so much to me. I remember as a little girl going to my father’s upholstery shop and instantly falling in love with home goods. Since then, I always dreamt of one day owning my own little shop. 

Fast forward a few years later, God opened the door to a new world; motherhood.  The name is all behind my true inspiration, Valentina Esmé and Vienna Élise (their nicknames) whom are my two daughters. I instantly fell in love with all things children. I found myself making little accessories for my girls which lead me to launch a girl’s accessory shop in April of 2020. 

After a successful launch, we unfortunately had to close the next day. My father fell very ill with Covid and ultimately it would claim his life. A few weeks after, my husband and I lost our jobs due to the pandemic. Battered with everything, little did I know my dream was being birthed through all the pain. A legacy of fine craftsmanship was waiting to be taken forward. Our vision for the hard work of thirty-plus years grew with the same passion this little girl once had to bring fourth what we offer today. 

My husband joined the dream to make this little business come true. Our staff who has been with us from day one continues to expand their talent. From my grandfather to my uncle who demonstrate their amazing talent with us each day, have made this little family business a one to tell. Not only is it a dream come true, it is a burning candle that keeps the memory of my father alive.
